Penny Ruiz pitched a one hitter to help the Culver-Stockton softball team end a seven-game losing streak with an 8-0 victory over William Woods University Tuesday afternoon at Himsl Field.
Ruiz allowed just a two out infield single in the third inning in capturing just her second victory of the season. Ruiz walked three and struck out two in registering the shutout.
Offensively, Ryley Pecina and Lacey Stamper recorded two hits and one run batted in each. Lauren Ferguson delivered the deciding two-run single in the fifth inning that ended the game due to the run rule.
In the first game, C-SC was limited to just a Payton Todd lead off double in the second inning in a 7-0 loss. The Wildcats were given five walks in the game but also had six strikeouts.
