Wildcats Outscore Baker 26-8 in Fourth Quarter to Roll to Sixth Straight Victory

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team rolled to its sixth consecutive victory with a 72-47 decision over Baker University Saturday afternoon at the Collins Center in Baldwin City, Kan.

The Wildcats led 46-39 after three quarters but the C-SC defense turned up the pressure in the final quarter. Baker was limited to just seven field goal attempts while the Wildcats forced eight Baker turnovers en route to outscoring the hosts 26-8 in the final 10 minutes. C-SC forced 24 turnovers overall and had a 25-8 edge on points off turnovers.

The Wildcats also had big advantages in points in the paint (34-24), second chance points (15-2), fast break points (17-6), and bench points (41-20).

Keyara Baerga-Plumey was the key to the C-SC dominance by the Wildcat bench. Baerga-Plumey scored her Wildcat best 16 points to lead all players. She was 7-for-9 from the field, including 2-for-3 from the 3-point stripe.

Two other players, Avery Oetting and Misora Nambara, were also in double figures for the Wildcats, who saw 12 of the 15 players that play score at least two points. Oetting, the team's leading scorer, contributed 12 points, while Nambara chipped in with 11 markers.

The Wildcats also dominated on the glass where they held a 40-27 rebound advantage, including 16 offensive rebounds. Oetting led the way with seven caroms while Paige Henson totaled six rebounds. Nevaiah Bell-Tenner and Allysa O'Connor added five rebounds each.

Nambara led all players in assists with six with Bell-Tenner chipping in with four assists. C-SC garnered 17 total assists in the game.

The Wildcats, now 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, travels to Marshall, Mo., Wednesday, Jan. 14, to face Missouri Valley College in a conference game. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
