Edward Madera Named Final Primo's Student Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College senior Edward Madera has been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for April.

Madera, a 6-foot-2 outfielder from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (ASA College) is a two-year letterwinner on the baseball team after transferring from ASA College in August 2016. He has started 85 of the 89 career games he has appeared, including all 38 games this season. Madera is batting .336 with a team-leading seven home runs and 41 runs batted in. In addition, he has collected 43 hits, including nine doubles and two triples, and has scored 19 runs. Madera has registered 13 multiple hit games and nine multiple RBI games this season.

In his career, Madera has a .292 batting average with 82 hits career hits, including 18 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. He has recorded 67 career runs batted in and scored 45 runs with a minimum of seven games remaining in his career. Madera is also a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases in his career.

Off the field, Madera is pursuing a degree in sport management. He has been named to the honors list in all three completed semesters, appearing on the President's List three times. Madera is expected to be named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete this spring.

Madera is the eighth and final Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month for the 2017-18 school year. Junior women's volleyball player Anna Stock was honored in September, senior football player Matt Kelly was honored in October, junior bowler Joey Krzywonos was honored in November, and junior women's basketball player Lacey Clark was honored in December.

Senior men's volleyball player James Heisse was lauded in January, and senior baseball player Daniel Smith was picked in February, and junior softball player Cassie Burris was named in March.
