Kirsten Burris Named April's Student-Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College catcher Kirsten Burris has been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for April.

Burris, a senior from Indianola, Iowa (Indianola HS), is a four-year letterwinner on the softball team who started 176 of the 180 games she appeared in, including all 52 games this season. Offensively, she batted .299 with eight doubles, three triples and nine home runs this year. Burris scored 39 runs and recorded 40 runs batted in. Defensively, Burris did not commit an error, picked off six baserunners and threw out 15 of 44 would-be base stealers. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Heart of America Athletic Conference first team and earned her second Gold Glove Award.

In her career, Burris collected 105 career hits, which included 28 doubles, three triples and 15 home runs. She added 86 runs scored and 80 runs batted in. In addition, Burris committed just three errors and registered 144 assists in her career.

Off the softball field, Burris is pursuing a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She has been named to the President's List (4.0 GPA) in six semesters and the Dean's List the other two semesters while being named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete two times and a National Softball Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete three times. Burris has also been inducted to the Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society, the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and the Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society. Burris is a member of the Alpha Pi Science Club.

Burris is the final Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month for the 2018-19 school year. Gabby Hickman (women's volleyball), Kehley Bitzas (women's soccer) and Alex Gonzalez (football) were honored in September, October and November, respectively. Mike Johnson (men's basketball), Carly Harper (women's basketball), Cheyenne Roberts (women's bowling), and Avery Johnson (softball) were honored in December, January, February and March.
