Taryn Brown Named Final Student-Athlete of the Month for 2020-21

Culver-Stockton College softball player Taryn Brown has been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for April.

Brown, a junior catcher from Edwardsville, Ill. (Edwardsville HS), is a three-year member of the softball program. In 38 games this season, Brown is batting a team-leading .333 with 34 hits, including seven doubles, and 16 runs batted in. She has a .402 slugging percentage and a .420 on-base percentage. Brown leads the team in hit by pitches having been clipped nine times this year.

In her career, Brown has played in 67 career games, making 60 starts. She played limited innings as a freshman in 2019 before batting .308 with a double, a home run and five RBI as a sophomore before the Covid-19 pandemic ended the Wildcats' season after just 10 games.

Brown is pursuing a degree in psychology with an emphasis in occupational therapy. She has been named to the President's List (4.00 GPA) after all five completed semesters she has attended Culver-Stockton. In 2019-20, Brown was named a Daktronics-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete, and on campus was named an Emerging Greek Leader of the Year by the Office of Student Life. Brown is a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

Brown is the eighth and final Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month for the 2020-21 school year, joining Ellie Packer (women's volleyball), who was recognized in September; Connor Perrine (football), who was named in October; Saylor Drawe (women's soccer), who was chosen in November; and Dalton Myers (men's bowling), who was picked for the December honor; Payton Curley (women's basketball), who was recognized in January; and Madison Matney (women's track and field), who was chosen in February; and Ally Frazier (women's lacrosse), who was named in March.
