Baltimore, Oxley Named February's Student-Athletes of the Month

Culver-Stockton College high jumper Alyssa Baltimore and outside hitter Akeel Oxley have been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

Baltimore, a senior from Decatur, Ill. (Eisenhower HS), is a four-year performer with the track and field program. A high jumper, Baltimore has recorded 18 top five finishes, including five first place finishes, during her tenure. She finished first at the Snowbird Invitational in 2022 and the Jim Green Invitational in 2020 during the indoor seasons, and she placed first at the Statesmen Relays in 2022, the Mustang Open in 2021 and the CMU Open in 2019 during the outdoor campaigns.

Baltimore's career best in the high jump is 5 feet, 3 inches at the Truman State Twilight in 2021, which is the second-best jump in school history for outdoor competitions. Baltimore is also second on the school's indoor all-time jump list with a mark of 5 feet, 1 inch.

Off the track, Baltimore has been named to Provost's List three times and the Honor Roll three times during her tenure on the Hill.

Oxley, a sophomore from Bridgetown Barbados (West Indies University), is a two-year member of the Wildcat men's volleyball team. In 2022, Oxley registered a team-best 269 kills, an average of 3.68 kills per set. He had an attack percentage of .257 with 579 attempts to date. In addition, he recorded 113 digs and 53 blocks while also garnering 16 service aces.

Oxley, a business administration major, has twice been named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference all-conference second team. He was named Heart Freshman of the Year and was the C-SC Male Newcomer of the Year after his performance last season when he compiled 228 kills and had 78 digs.

Baltimore and Oxley are the sixth pair of Primo's Student-Athletes of the Month for the 2021-22 school year, joining Jody Ellis (women's soccer) and Nolan Dreher (football) who were recognized in September, Sopheea Vomund and Dax Flowerree, who were named in October, and Montse Caparros (women's soccer) and Harrison Fey (men's soccer), who were lauded in November; and Taylor Green (women's basketball) and Josh French (men's cross country/track and field) who were acknowledged in December. Carlee Hummel (women's bowling) and David Hernandez (football) were the first honorees of 2022, being named in January.

To be considered for the Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month, students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and must be at least a sophomore or complete one full year as a transfer student.
