Anguiano, Cox Recognized by Primo's as February's Student-Athletes of the Month

Culver-Stockton College softball player Rosa Anguiano and basketball player Gabe Cox have been named Primo's Pizza and Subs Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

Anguiano, a senior first baseman from Topeka, Kan. (Hayden HS / Highland CC) is a two-year starter with the softball program. Rosa has played in 61 total games to date, including 46 during the 2023 campaign, and has a career batting average of .291. Rosa has compiled 43 career hits, including eight doubles and one home run, has 16 runs batted in and has scored 21 total runs.  

Off the field, Rosa is pursuing a degree in elementary education. A transfer from Highland (Kan.) Community College, Rosa has been named to the C-SC honors list in all three of her completed semesters on the Hill. Rosa has twice been named to the Provost's List and once to the President's List. Rosa was twice named to the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) All-Conference Academic team during her tenure at Highland CC and was recognized as a Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete last season for the Wildcats.    

Cox, a senior guard from Winchester, Ill. (West Central HS / John Wood CC), was a two-year letterwinner for the basketball team. During his career, Gabe appeared in 44 career games, making nine starts. He averaged 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and one assist in 13.7 minutes per game in his career after transferring from John Wood Community College. Gabe scored a career-high seven points against Peru State (Neb.) on Jan. 27, 2024, and had a career-best six rebounds against Clarke (Iowa) on Jan. 31, 2024.

Off the court, Gabe is pursuing a degree in accounting with a minor in data analytics. He has been named to the Provost's List in all three semesters he has completed on the Hill. During the 2022-23 season, Gabe was named a Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.

Anguiano and Cox are the sixth pair of athletes to be named student-athletes of the month for the 2023-24 school year. They join September's honorees Kyla Ellis (women's volleyball) and Ruben Reinertsen (men's soccer), October's honorees Mackenzie Frizzell (women's soccer) and Craig Bland (men's golf), November's honorees McKenna Little (women's soccer) and Anthony Flores (football), December's honorees Megan Diehl (women's basketball) and Seth Larson (men's basketball), and January's honorees Avery Oetting (women's basketball) and Anthony Ribes (baseball)

The Wildcat Athletic Department picks two student-athletes (one male / one female) each month throughout the school year recognizing students for their academic and athletic achievements.
