Saunders, Davis Named Student Athletes of the Month for January

Culver-Stockton College women's bowler Jasmine Saunders, and men's basketball player Connor Davis have been named Primo's Pizza and Subs Student-Athletes of the Month for January.

Saunders, a senior from Keokuk, Iowa (Keokuk HS), is a four-time Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference performer, including a first team selection in 2023. She has twice been named to the second team, and this season was a third team selection. In addition, Saunders was an honorable mention All-America pick after the 2023 season.    

This season, Saunders bowled in all 38 games for the Wildcats, registering an average of 176 per game. She garnered one top 10 finish, and four top 25 finishes in eight events. Saunders had her best finish at Columbia Cougar Clash placing sixth overall.

Off the field, Saunders is pursuing a degree in accounting. She has been named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete three times in her career and has been named to the school's President's List two times and the Provost's List three times.

Davis, a junior forward from Sycamore, Ill. (Neuqua Valley HS / Quincy University, is a two-year letterwinner who has appeared in 55 career games, making 49 starts. This season, Davis won the league scoring title by averaging 20.5 points per game. He scored 574 total points, which is the 10th-highest single-season total in program history. Davis also shot 43.3 percent from the field overall and 38.2 percent from the 3-point arc while connecting on 85.7 percent of his free throw attempts. The 146 made free throws by Davis are the fourth highest single season total in school history. He was honored twice this season as the Heart's Offensive Player of the Week.

 In his two year career, Davis recorded 832 career points, averaging 15.1 points while playing 29 minutes per game. He also averaged five rebounds per game during his career. Davis achieved a career-high 41 points in a victory at William Penn University on Jan. 29, 2025.  

In the classroom, Davis is pursuing a degree in finance. He has been named to the school's provost's list two times

Saunders and Davis join Lauren Bloom (women's volleyball) and Gannon McNamee (men's cross country/track and field) in the month September; Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez (women's soccer) and Demarion Cobb (football) in October; Ashleigh Brawley (women's volleyball Rommarrus Hinson (football) in November; and Maggie Tuxhorn (women's soccer) and Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate in December, as 2024-25 scholar-athletes of the month. The Wildcat Athletic Department picks two student-athletes (one male / one female) each month throughout the school year recognizing students for their academic and athletic achievements.
