Hunt, Dowd Named February's Student-Athletes of the Month

Culver-Stockton College softball player Kataleena Hunt, and men's cross country and track and field distance runner Kile Dowd have been named Primo's Pizza and Subs Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

Hunt, a junior from Williamsfield, Ill. (Williamsfield HS), is a three-year starter for the Wildcats who has appeared in 122 career games to this point in her career. She has a .317 career batting average with 105 hits. Among those 105 hits are 32 career doubles, which is currently tied for ninth on the school's all-time list. Kataleena has also recorded three triples, five home runs and 49 runs batted in.

During the 2024 campaign, Kataleena earned All-Heart of America Athletic Conference second team honors after batting .344 with 15 doubles and 25 RBI. She registered 45 hits and scored 23 runs. The 15 doubles were the 10th-highest single season total in program history.

Off the field, Hunt is pursuing a degree in criminal justice. She has been named to the honors list three times during her tenure.

Dowd, a graduate from Danville, Iowa (Danville HS / Iowa Wesleyan University), has run for the cross country and track and field teams for two seasons after transferring from Iowa Wesleyan. During his two-year stint, Kile has inserted his name in the top 10 in all three sports.

In cross country, Kile is listed in the 4-mile, five-kilometer and eight-kilometer distances. He is currently second all-time in the 4-mile with a time of 24:09.5, and fourth in both the 5K and 8K with times of 18:08.7 and 28:39.7. respectively.  

During the indoor track season, Kile has been equally successful. He is ranked third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:29.06, and he is fourth all-time in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:11.34. Additionally, Kile holds the school record for the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 6:58.98.

During the outdoor season, Kile is second in the 5,000, third in the 3,000. second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and second in the 10,000-meter run.

In the classroom, Dowd is pursuing a master's degree in education. He was named to the President's List in his only semester as an undergraduate.

Hunt and Dowd join Lauren Bloom (women's volleyball) and Gannon McNamee (men's cross country/track and field) in the month September; Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez (women's soccer) and Demarion Cobb (football) in October; Ashleigh Brawley (women's volleyball) and Rommarrus Hinson (football) in November; Maggie Tuxhorn (women's soccer) and Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate in December, and Jasmine Saunders (women's bowling) and Connor Davis (men's basketball) in January as 2024-25 scholar-athletes of the month. The Wildcat Athletic Department picks two student-athletes (one male / one female) each month throughout the school year recognizing students for their academic and athletic achievements.
