Baseball Drops First Two Games of Four-Game Weekend Series

The Culver-Stockton baseball team opened a four-game weekend series by dropping a doubleheader to William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Wildcats lost the first game of the twinbill in a slugfest 11-10 before the Crusaders exploded for eight first inning runs in the nightcap to post a 17-4 victory.

In the opener, the Wildcats were led by Dax Flowerree with two home runs, four runs batted in and two runs scored. Jackson Day added two hits, both doubles, and two runs scored, while Jaison Andujar drilled a three-run homer.

The Wildcats banged out seven hits, were issued seven walks and was the beneficiary of three Crusader errors in the opener. William Carey registered 12 hits and were given five walks. 

In the nightcap, C-SC was limited to four hits and committed three errors in the game. Wildcat pitchers allowed 14 hits and walked 10 in six innings of work. Kell'i Price collected two of the four hits.

The Wildcats (3-3) and Crusaders conclude their four-game set Saturday with another doubleheader at Milton Wheeler Field. First pitch for the first game is slated for 1 p.m.
