Concordia Power Display Leads to Sweep of Wildcats

Concordia University collected 13 extra base hits, including seven home runs, in sweeping a doubleheader from the Culver-Stockton baseball team Saturday afternoon in Fort Scott, Kan.

The Bulldogs registered a double and a home run in a 5-4 victory in game one, and then exploded for six home runs and five doubles in a 16-5 win in the nightcap.

The Wildcats hit five home runs of their own, including two from catcher Collin Hall, but were unable to keep up with the Concordia power display.

C-SC outhit the Bulldogs 10-7 in the first game, but Concordia used a three-run. homer in the first inning and a two-run single in the third inning build a 5-1 lead.

The Wildcats got a sole home run from Jordan Scott in the third inning and a two-run home run by Hall in the fifth inning. C-SC loaded the bases in the sixth inning with one out but failed to score.

In the seventh, C-SC put the first two runners on before a pair of outs were recorded. Keli'i Price singled home Jaison Andujar to bring the Wildcats to within 5-4; however, Dax Flowerree was out trying to advance to end the game.

Hall, Flowerree and Price all had two hits for the Wildcats. 

In game two, Concordia scored in every inning but the first off of three Wildcat pitchers.

Hall had two more hits in the second game, including a solo home runs. Cade Power also had a solo home runs while Ryan Osso drilled a two-run homer.

The Wildcats (4-8) and Concordia are scheduled to conclude the  four-game series Sunday, Feb. 26. The first game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
