Wildcats Drop Two Games Despite Meny's Five-Hit, Four RBI Day

The Culver-Stockton College baseball team continues to struggle to close out games in the early portion of the season.

The Wildcats allowed three runs in the sixth inning of a 7-5 loss to Doane (Neb.) in the first game of day at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo. In the second game, Columbia plated four runs in the sixth inning to upend the Wildcats 11-9.

In the opener, C-SC jumped out in front 3-0 in the top of the first inning thanks to a RBI double by Tristan Meny and a two-run double from Jackson Day.

Doane tied the game in the bottom half of the first, but the Wildcats plated two runs in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Ryan Osso.

The Tigers pulled with 5-4 with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning before scoring three times in the sixth inning on two hits, a walk and an error.

Three Wildcat players recorded two hits in the game with Meny registering two doubles. Osso and Bryan Barreto also had two hits for the Wildcats.

Against Columbia the Wildcats fell behind 3-0 before tying the game in the third inning with three runs and taking a 7-3 lead with a four-run fourth inning.

In the third inning, Noble Oxford drove in the first run with a single before Meny delivered a two-run single to tie the game. In the fourth inning, C-SC took the lead with a. Run as a result of an error. Jaison Andujar followed with a two-run single and Meny added another RBI single to give the Wildcats a four-run advantage.

However, the Cougars scored a run in the bottom of the third, two in the fourth and one more in the fifth to tie the game 7-7.

Columbia then put four runs on the board in the sixth inning to grab an 11-7 lead before the Wildcats tried to rally in the top of the seventh. Kannon Kirk and Osso garnered RBI singles in the final at-bat, but it wasn't enough to overcome the earlier damage.

Meny led the way with three hits in the game, going him five on the day. Osso and Andujar also had multiple hit games with two each.

The Wildcats (1-5) are slated to play the same two teams again Saturday starting with Doane at 2:30 and following with Columbia at 5 p.m.
