Scott's Four RBI's Help Wildcat Earn Split at William Woods

Jordan Scott drove in four runs with a single and a double to lift the Culver-Stockton College to a 6-5 victory and a split of a non-conference doubleheader at William Woods University Friday afternoon in Fulton, Mo.

The Owls captured the first game 4-2 despite a strong starting performance from Wildcat hurler Anthony Ribes who fanned 13 batters in five innings. 

The Wildcats didn't waste time grabbing the lead in the second game as Jaison Andujar doubled with two outs and Scott followed with another double for a 1-0 lead.

The Owls plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning but the Wildcats exploded for a five run second inning to set the tone for the rest of the game.

Andrew Herrick began the frame with a single and he was still at first after a pair of strikeouts threatened to derail the inning.

However, back-to-back walks to Wyatt Wright and Ryan Osso loaded the bases for Kannon Kirk. Kirk delivered  with a ground rule double to score two runs to put C-SC back on top at 3-2.

Andujar followed with another walk to fill the bases again, and Scott followed with a three-run double to make it 6-1.

Cole Parkhill shutout the Owls in the second and third innings before surrendering three runs in fourth as the Owls creeped to within 6-5. Davin Meier relieved Parkhill in the fifth inning and hurled the final three innings to preserve the victory. Meier did not allow a hit and struck out two.

In the opener, WWU scored two in the first inning before the Wildcats answered with two runs of their own in the second on a RBI double by Bryan Barretto and a run-scoring balk by Owls pitcher Max Benton.

Ribes scattered five hits in his five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) and walking one to go along with his 13 strikeouts.

The Wildcats (2-12) and Owls (9-7) will complete their home-and-home four-game series Saturday,March 2, with a twin bill at Nichols Field in Canton, First pick is set for 1 p.m.
