Bats Silenced as Baseball Drops Doubleheader, Series to William Penn

The Culver-Stockton College baseball team was shutdown on seven total hits in a doubleheader loss to William Penn University Saturday afternoon at Statesmen Ballpark in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The results drop the Wildcats to 8-19-1 overall and 5-7 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The results also give William Penn a series win by winning three games in the four-games series.

C-SC was held to four hits, all singles, in a 3-0 loss in the opener, and three hits in a 3-0 setback in game two. Noble Oxford collected two of the four hits in the first game while Tristan Meny had the only extra-base hit during the day with a double in game two.

C-SC starter Cole Parkhill was the hard-luck loser in the nightcap despite only allowing three hits of his own in pitching a complete game. Parkhill only allowed a RBI double in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the third inning for the only runs of the game. He walked two and struck out six.

Nicolas Goebert scattered eight hits and allowed all three runs in the opener. Goebert pitched the first five innings, walking one and striking out two. Davin Meier pitched a perfect sixth inning for the Wildcats.

C-SC is scheduled to host Mount Mercy University next weekend, March 29-30, in a four-game series at Nichols Field. The doubleheader Friday is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
