Andujar, Osso Help Wildcats Earn Split with Clarke University

Jaison Andujar went 4-for-5 with five runs batted in and Ryan Osso was a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI as the Culver-Stockton baseball team opened a four-game series with a split against Clarke University at Nichols Field.

Andujar doubled and homered and Osso collected two doubles among his four hits as the Wildcats outlasted the Pride 12-10 in day's second game. Clarke squeaked past the Wildcats 4-2 in the opener.

Three other C-SC players collected two hits in the Wildcats' 15-hit attack in the second game. Bryan Barreto led the trio Wirth two hits and three runs batted in while Wyatt Wright recorded two hits and scored two runs and Kannon Kirk had two safeties and a run scored.

Clayton Woods pitched the first five innings to earn the victory for the Wildcats. Woods scattered  five hits and allowed five runs (two earned) while striking out seven and walking just one one to improve to 4-3 on the season. Davin Meier and Stefan Stockwell pitched an inning each in relief.

In the first game, Clarke jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. C-SC cut the lead in half in the second with a single by Wright and a RBI double from Jackson Day.

The pride added single runs in the fifth and seventh inning to extend the lead to 4-1 before the Wildcats got a RB double from Tristan Meny in the bottom of the seventh that scored Andujar to maker it a two-run game.

The two teams will take Sunday off before concluding the series Monday, April 8, with another doubleheader at Nichols Field. Game time is set for 2 p.m. for game one.
