
Baseball Swept by No. 23 CMU on Windy Day at Nichols
If offense is your thing, then Nichols Field was the place to be Monday afternoon as the Culver-Stockton baseball team concluded it four-game series with 23rd-ranked Central Methodist University.
With a strong wind blowing out to right field, the two teams combined for 48 runs and 50 hits as the nationally-ranked Eagles swept the Heart of America Athletic Conference twin bill by scores of 11-7 and 17-13.
Among the 50 total hits, the two teams recorded 15 extra base hits, including eight doubles, one triple, and five home runs. CMU totaled six doubles and four of those home runs while the Wildcats had two doubles, two home runs and the games's only triple.
C-SC banged out 11 hits in the game one loss with Tristan Meny, Kannon Kirk and Jordan Scott all registering two hits each. Among Scott's two hits was a two-run homer in the second inning. Kirk garnered a run-scoring triple.
In game two, the Wildcats collected 15 hits in the game with catcher Bryan Barreto going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs batted in. Senior Jaison Andujar added a pair of solo home runs.
Jeremiah Morris also recorded a multi-hit game with two singles and three runs batted in. Meny and Dallas Slayton tallied two hits with Meny and Noble Oxford driving in two runs each.
The Wildcats return to action this Saturday, March 22, to begin a four-game series at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
