Wildcats Drop Doubleheader, Series at Mount Mercy
The Culver-Stockton baseball team dropped its third consecutive Heart of America Athletic Conference series after Mount Mercy University swept a doubleheader from the Wildcats Sunday afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Wildcats and Mustangs, who split the first two games of the series Saturday, waited out a long rain delay Sunday before Mount Mercy posted a 9-6 victory in game one and a 14-3 win in games two to take the series.
The Wildcats banged out 12 hits in the opener with Tristan Meny collecting three hits in four at-bats. Jaison Andujar registered two hits, including a double and a triple, while Harry Oden tallied a two-run single.
In game two, C-SC was held to just four hits by four different Wildcats. Bryan Barreto and Giancarlo Arroyo recorded a RBI each for the Wildcats, both on sacrifice flies.
The Wildcats return home next Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30, for a pair of doubleheaders against Graceland University at Nichols Field. The first pitch each day is slated for 1 p.m.
