The Culver-Stockton College cheer and dance teams participated in their first competitions of the year.

On Friday, the Wildcat cheer team opened its season at the Spartan Showcase hosted by Missouri Baptist University Friday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. The cheer team recorded a score of 70.05 to finish third behind Lindenwood-Belleville (83.75) and Missouri Baptist (83.05).

The Classy 'Cats dance team finished eighth overall with a total of 68.9 points. Saint Ambrose won the eight team event with a score of 100.9.

At the Lindenwood-Belleville Classic on Saturday in Belleville, Ill., the Wildcat cheer team placed fourth with a total of 72.86. Lindenwood won the event with a score of 83.18 followed by Missouri Baptist (78.63) and Saint Ambrose (76.98)

The Classy 'Cats also participated at Lindenwood and finished with a score of 55. Saint Ambrose won the event with a score of 105.22.

Both teams are expected to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships next Saturday, Feb. 6, at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
