
Jarrett Rushes for Two Scores in Wildcat Loss at Peru State
The Culver-Stockton College football team possessed the ball for less than 18 minutes in a 52-21 loss to Peru State College Saturday afternoon at the Oak Bowl in Peru, Neb.
The Wildcat offense had seven 3-and-outs among the 13 possessions they had during the game. C-SC finished with 17 minutes, 45 seconds of possession time while Peru State possessed the ball for 42:45.
After running three plays and then punting on the opening possession of the game, C-SC allowed it seventh opening drive touchdown in eight games when the Bobcats went 54 yards on seven plays after the C-SC punt.
The Wildcats answered on their third drive of the half when running back Nicholas Jarrett raced 80 yards for a touchdown to tie the game. The rush was the longest of his career and it propelled Jarrett to a career-day rushing the football, finishing with 125 yards on 14 attempts.
The Bobcats answered that score with a touchdown late in the first quarter and then another touchdown and a field goal in the second quarter to head to the intermission leading 24-7.
Peru State added another touchdown in the third quarter before the Wildcats got a 26-yard scoring pass from Houston Swan to Kyle Dixon. Irt was Dixon's ninth receiving touchdown of the season and the 10th overall. Dixon finished with four receptions for 64 yards.
Peru added three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter before Jarrett concluded his best day as a Wildcat with his second touchdown run of the game, a four-yard run with 1:48 to play in the game.
The Wildcats played without starting quarterback Drake Day due to injury. Swan and Carson Vandello combined to complete just seven of 27 passes for 72 yards. Swan was 3-for-15 for 62 of those yards.
Defensively, Kendall Fowler registered a game-high 13 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. Sonny Jenkins was also in double figures with 10 stops in the game. Brooklyn Hyman recovered a fumble for C-SC.
The Wildcats are slated to play their final road game of the 2024 season next Saturday, Nov. 9, at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
