Nine Minute Scoring Drought by Wildcats Allows Clarke to Pull Away Late

The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team dropped to 0-3 since the turn of the calendar with a 71-55 loss to Clarke University Wednesday night in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats trailed 37-27 at the intermission but clawed their way back in the second half to within 51-45 on a pair of Robert Fry II free throws with 13:07 to play in the game.

However, C-SC went ice cold from the field and scored just four points over the next nine minutes with the Pride outscoring the visitors 15-4 over that stretch to build a 66-49 lead.

Clarke added four more points to make it a 18-4 run in a 12 minute span to pull away and pick up its third conference victory of the season.

The Wildcats placed two players in double figures with Fry leading the way with 17 points. Fry was 5-for-9 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line with one 3-pointer. 

Jalen Blaize came off the bench to net 12 points 4 of 8 shooting, including 3-for-5 from the 3-point arc. 

CaRondis Harris-Anderson grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats in that category. Javon Modester registered a team-high four assists.

The Wildcats, now 6-9 overall and 2-7 in the Heart, is slated to host Mount Mercy University this Saturday, Jan. 14, at Charles Field House in Canton. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
