Wildcats Blitz Clarke Early; Roll to Easy Heart Victory at Home

The Culver-Stockton College men's basketball team blitzed Clarke University early en route to a season-high 90 points in a 90-61 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory Wednesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats, who have won two in row, were tied with the Pride 4-4 before scoring 11 straight points to lead 15-4. During that run, the Wildcats held Clarke scoreless for six minutes, 20- seconds.

C-SC shot 44 percent in the first half while limiting the Pride to 28 percent shooting in building a 39-22 halftime advantage. Clarke was 9-for-28 from the field, including 2-for-14 from outside the arc.

Any chance the Pride had of getting back in the game was squashed by the Wildcats early in the second half when C-SC scored the first 13 points of the half to increases the lead to 30 points (52-22).

C-SC shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and finished the game shooting 47 percent for the game. The Wildcats made a season-high 15 3-pointers on 30 attempts, also a season high.

Five players reached double figures for the Wildcats, who had had a very balanced scoring attack.

Tai Walters-Whitaker, Seth Larson, and Cole Schwartz all scored 14 points to lead the way. Walters-Whitaker was perfect on the night, making all six of his field goal attempts, including two treys.

Ryan Moore registered a season-high 10 points and he was matched by CaRondis Harris-Anderson, also with 10 markers. 

The Wildcats out-rebounded the visitors 49-33 in the game. The 49 caroms was a season-high for the Wildcats. Walters-Whitaker led the way with eight rebounds while Moore and Connor Davis recorded seven caroms each.

Walters-Whitaker dished out a team-best five assists and had two steals along with Davis, Moore and Keashon Petty.

The Wildcats, now 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the Heart, is scheduled to play its final game before the holidays this Saturday, Dec. 16, at Peru State College. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Al Wheeler Activity Center in Peru, Neb.
