High-powered MNU Pulls Away from Wildcats

The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team suffered its fourth straight loss, including the second straight on its home court, in a 95-73 setback to MidAmerica Nazarene University Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats trailed 44-30 after one half and was outscored 51-43 in the second half, allowing 50 or more points in a half for the third time in four halves.

The Pioneers doubled the Wildcats in offensive rebounds, grabbing 20 caroms on the offensive end, and holding a 53-32 edge on the glass overall. MNU recorded 22 second chance points while C-SC managed just five points after a miss.

Robert Fry II was one of two Wildcats to reach double figures, finishing with 21 points. CaRondis Harris-Anderson chipped in with 15 markers.

Tai Walters-Whitaker and Nicolas Fowler just missed double figures, ending with nine points. Walters-Whitacker dished out five assists and Harris-Anderson registered four steals.

The Wildcats are now 7-10 overall and 5-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. MNU improves to 14-4 overall and 12-2 in the league.

GAME NOTES:

  • Fry scored 20 or more points for the 14th time in his career Saturday. It is the 46th time he has scored in double figures.
  • The four steals by Harris-Anderson tied his career high. Harris-Anderson also had four steals against Hannibal-LaGrange on Nov. 2, 2022.
  • The 51 points by MNU were the most allowed by the Wildcats in the second half this season.
  • The 53 rebounds by the Pioneers matched its total from the earlier meeting with the Wildcats this season, which is the most allowed by the Wildcats.
  • The 22 defensive rebounds by the Wildcats matched their season low this season.
  • The Wildcats are scheduled to host William Penn University this Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Charles Field House. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
