Men's Basketball Places Three on All-Heart Team

The Culver-Stockton College men's basketball team had three players named to the All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team as the league announced its award winners Thursday afternoon. The team was selected by a vote of league coaches.

Guard Robert Fry II and forward Seth Larson were named to the second team, while guard Tai Walters-Whitaker garnered honorable mention accolades.

Fry, a 6-foot-1 senior from Indianapolis, Ind. (Ben Davis HS / St. Leo University), played in 26 of the 29 games this season, averaging a team-best 14.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He led the Wildcats in scoring in seven games this season, scoring a season-best 23 points against Central Methodist University on Nov. 21. In addition, Fry scored in double figures in 21 games, including 20 or more points five times, and had two games of seven or more rebounds and five games of five or more assists.

Fry, who spent the 2021-22 season at St. Leo (Fla.) University, has been named to the All-Heart team three times in his career. He was also named Freshman of the Year and second team after the 2020-21 season, and honorable mention in 2022-23.

Larson, a 6-foot-5 junior from Columbia, Mo. (Hickman HS), appeared and started in 26 of the 29 games played by the Wildcats. He averaged 14.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, which was ranked 10th in the Heart. Larson shot 45.4 percent from the field overall, including 36.7 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, and 71.1 percent from the foul line.

In addition, Larson led the Wildcats in scoring 11 times during the season, reaching double figures 21 times. He had five games of 20 or more points and 10 or more rebounds, and he registered five double-doubles during the year. This is the second year in a row Larson has been recognized by the Heart, having gained honorable mention honors in 2022-23.

Walters-Whitaker, a junior from Flossmoor, Ill. (Homewood-Flossmoor HS / Governor's State) arrived as a transfer this season and made an immediate impact on the Wildcats. He appeared in 25 of the 29 games this season, making 24 starts. Walters-Whitaker averaged 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. In addition, Walters-Whitaker shot 42.3 percent from the field and 80.7 percent from the free throw line.

Walters-Whitaker reached double figures in scoring 14 times in his 25 games this season. He also recorded three double-doubles and had five games of five or more assists. Walters-Whitaker posted a season-high 35 points at Grand View (Iowa) on Feb. 10, had a team-high seven assists at Park (Mo.) on Feb. 24, and had a season-high four steals against Park on Jan. 29.

The Wildcats concluded the 2023-24 campaign with a 14-15 overall record, finishing in sixth place in the 13-team conference with a 12-12 league mark.
