Wildcats Struggle Shooting in Loss to Baker

The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team is still searching for its first victory of the season after a 100-57 loss to Baker University Saturday afternoon at Charles Field House.

The Wildcat shot a season-low 32 percent from the field, including 29 percent in the second half. Meanwhile, Columbia blistered the nets by a count of 59 percent for the game a d 60 percent in the second half.

Connor Davis gave the Wildcats an 11-9 lead with 13:29 remaining in the first half. However, that would be the last time the hosts would lead as Baker went on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes, 10 seconds before a basket by Tai Walters-Whitaker of C-SC broke the drought. Baker would go on to outscore the Wildcats 45-26 in the first half.

Baker doubled up the Wildcats in the rebounding department 46-23, leading to a 14-4 advantage in second chance points. Even though the Wildcats committed one less turnover (17-16) in the game, Baker took advantage of the miscues scoring 20 points off those miscues while C-SC managed just eight points off Baker errors.

Davis led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 points. Ryan Stevenson chipped in with 12 markers. Three players, Roee Dinnar, Davis and Walters-Whitaker all grabbed four caroms to pace the hosts in that category.

The Wildcats, who's first three conference opponents have combined for a 22-1 overall record, are scheduled to host William Penn University Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Charles Field House. The Statesmen are 6-2 on the season. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
