Men's Basketball Can't Climb Over Hill in Loss to MNU

A pair of late runs in the final 10 minutes of the game by MidAmerica Nazarene led to a 68-58 victory over the Culver-Stockton men's basketball team Saturday afternoon at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats trailed 33-30 at halftime and the game stayed within four to six points in the first 10 minutes of the second half before the Pioneers used a 7-0 run over a four minute span of the second half to separate the two teams.

A layup by Connor Davis brought C-SC to within 48-44 with 10:29 to play in the game but MNU scored seven straight points to lead 55-44 before Tai Walters-Whitaker drained two free throws with 7:29 remaining stopped the bleeding.

C-SC fought its way to within 63-58 on two free throws by Jacob McGhee with two minutes left in the game; however, the Wildcats didn't score again while the Pioneers notched five points to account for the final score.

Davis scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Wildcat scoring attack. Walters-Whitaker added 10 points and three assists, while McGhee grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

C-SC is slated to return to action this Wednesday, Feb. 19, when the Wildcats travel to Fayette, Mo., to battle Central Methodist University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Puckett Fieldhouse.
