Men's Bowlers Finish 20th at the Mid-States Championships

The Culver-Stockton College men's bowling program competed at the Mid-States Championships, a tier one tournament held at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan., last weekend.

The Wildcats ended the tournament with 9,199 total pins with 5,546 pins coming in six team games Saturday and 3,653 pins being registered in 20 baker games Sunday. C-SC averaged 924.3 pins in its six team games with a high game of 995, while the Wildcats averaged 182.6 pins in 20 baker games. Wichita State won the event with a total of 11,331 pins.

Keaten Bieri was one of only two Wildcat players to play in all six team games Saturday, leading the way with 1,165 pins to place 64th overall in the field of 312 bowlers. Bieri averaged 194.2 pins per game and turned in games of 253, 215 and 207.

Mason Will was the other player to roll all six games, finishing with 1,137 total pins, or an average of 189.5. Will rolled games of 212 and 204 and finished 80th overall.

Jake Evitts and Levi Staley each rolled five games for C-SC with Evitts averaging 200.4 pins and collecting 1,002 pins overall to place 124th overall. Meanwhile, Staley collected 866 total pins for an average of 173.2 and placed 165th overall. Simon Larsen rolled four games and finished with 713 pins and an average of 173.3.

River Van Veghel and Kiante Depree rolled two games each for the Wildcats collecting 341 and 322 pins, respectively.      

The Wildcats are back in action this weekend, Oct. 28-29, at the Five Seasons Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The women are slated to compete at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.
