
Men's Bowling Finishes 34th in Hoosier Classic
The Culver-Stockton College men's bowling team finished 34th in the 55th Annual Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind., over the weekend.
The Wildcats accumulated 5811 total pins during the six team games Saturday, registering games of 1015 and 1079 in the process. On Sunday, the Wildcats recorded 2568 pins in 15 baker games, averaging 171.2 pins per game. They had a high baker game of 207. Mount Mercy won the event with 9451 total pins. Seventy-eight teams competed in the men's portion of the event.
Individually, Mason Will was the top finisher for the Wildcats, placing 82nd in a field of 531 bowlers. Will got off to a hot start with a 202 game, a 228 game and a pair of 210 games. He cooled down in the final two games, rolling games of 181 and 182 to finish with a 202.3 average.
Jake Evitts placed 115th overall with an average of 197 pins per game. Evitts turned in a team-best 248 game in the Wildcats' second game. He also had a game of 209 and finished with 1182 total pins.
Other bowlers to bowl in all six team games for the Wildcats were Keaten Bieri who placed 130th overall 1168 total pins, rolling games of 232 and 222, for an average of 194.7. River Van Veghel finished 141st with an average of 191. Van Veghel garnered 1146 total pins, rolling a high game of 246.
Gavin Moeller bowled three of the four games for the Wildcats and totaled 778 pins overall, or an average of 194.5. Levi Staley bowled in two games and averaged 162, rolling games of 194 and 130.
C-SC is scheduled to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 24-25, at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, Kan.
