Men's Bowling Competes in Leatherneck Classic
The Culver-Stockton men's bowling team competed in the 24th Annual Leatherneck Classic at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford,Ill., Saturday and Sunday.
The Wildcats finished 32nd among the 40 varsity teams competing in the tournament with a grand total of 6,993 total pins over the two days. C-SC compiled 4,248 pins in the five team games on Saturday, and 2,745 pins in the 16 baker games Sunday.
Webber International (Fla.) captured the top spot with 9,257 total pins over the two days. However, Wichita State University, which finished second in preliminary play, claimed the title with by winning the single-elimination bracket play.
Individually, Jake Evitts was the top finisher for the Wildcats, placing 116th in a field of 385 bowlers. Evitts registered 941 total pins in five game, an average of 188.2 per game. Evitts had a high game of 226.
Mason Will finished 137th overall, averaging 182.2 pins per game. Will had the best game of the tournament for the Wildcats with a 235 game. He totaled 911 pins in five games. Kody Birmes placed 171st overall with 842 total pins or an average of 168.4. His best game rolled was a 195 game.
Ashton Weilandich finished 182nd overall with a grand total of 818 pins, averaging 163.6 pins per game. His best game was a 171 game. Gavin Moeller finished 221st overall with 736 total pins and an average of 147.2
The Wildcats are scheduled to return to action Dec. 7-8 at the Warhawk Open in Addison, Ill. That tournament will be contested at the Stardust Bowl.
