Men's Golf Places Eighth at Season Opening NAIA Midwest Invitational
The Culver-Stockton men's golf team began its fall season with an eighth place finish in the NAIA Midwest Invitational at TPC Deere Run Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26 in Silvis, Ill.
The Wildcats carded a 47-over 615 over the 36-hole event to finish 26 strokes behind Marion (Ind.) and Midland (Neb.) in the team competition. C-SC shot a 29-over 313 the first day but improved by 11 strokes Tuesday and carded a an 18-over 302.
Individually, Craig Bland was the top finisher for the Wildcats, placing 14th overall with a 36-hole total of 7-over 149. Bland shot a 6-over 77 the first day but re-grouped and came back Tuesday with a 1-over 72.
Conner Bross checked in with a 22nd place finish with a 9-over 151 over the two days. Bross opened the tournament Monday with a 5-over 76 and then carded a 4-over 75 Tuesday. Cade Coon placed 28th overall with a 10-over 152, shotting 77 and 75.
Matt Dunham and Brevin Wilson played their first tournament as Wildcats and finished 59th and 72nd overall, respectively. Dunham carded a 21-over 163, recording an 83 and 80, while Wilson shot 28-over 170, carding back-to-back rounds of 85.
The Wildcats return to action on Oct. 9-10 at the Saints Classic which is being hosted by Holy Cross College at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
