Bland Finishes Second for Second Straight Week, Leads Wildcats to Runner-up Spot in Own Tournament

Led by Craig Bland's second straight second place finish, the Culver-Stockton men's golf team placed second in its own Wildcat Fall Classic at Spring Lake Country Club Sunday and Monday in Quincy, Ill.

Bland, who also placed second at the Saints Classic last week in South Bend, Ind., shot a 5-over par 149 and tied for second this week. Bland carded a six-over 78 Sunday in blustery and cold conditions; however, rebounded nicely on a more calmer day Monday to shoot 1-under 71 and finish five strokes off the winning score.

All five of the Wildcat golfers playing for the team score shot in the 70s during the second round to lift C-SC to a team score of 618 and a second place finish. After carding a 317 Sunday, the play on Monday led to a 301 score, placing them six strokes behind Quincy University.

Cade Coon continues with his consistent play this season, carding a two-day total of 9-over 153, shooting 76 and 77. Matt Dunham was right behind Coon with an 11-over 155 (80-75), while Conner Bross concluded at 17-over 161 (83-78). Jacob Thomas was the fifth member with a 20-over 164, carding an 85 and 79.

C-SC also entered a second team in the tournament and that group finished with an overall score of 710 for 36 holes.

Brady Walker was the top golfer for the C-SC "B" squad with a score of 16-over 160, shooting identical rounds of 80 each day.

The Wildcats are slated to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Preview Tournament next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23-24 at the Preserve in Moravia, Iowa.
