Men's Golf Rallies from 14 Strokes Down to Win Quincy Invitational

The Culver-Stockton College men's golf team came from 14 strokes back to claim the team title at the Quincy University Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Quincy Country Club in Quincy, Ill.

The Wildcats shot a 32-over score of 312 on the first day and trailed Mineral Area Junior College by 14 strokes and Quincy University's A team by nine strokes. In the final round, the Wildcats carded a round of 19-over 299 to finish at 611. Mineral Area shot 18 strokes worse the second day and dropped to third while Quincy stood steady in second place with a score of 24-over par 304 fall to the Wildcats by two strokes.

Individually, Cade Coon finished in a three-way tie for third with a score of 11-over 151 (76-75). Conner Bross and Brady Walker ended in a three-way tie for sixth after carding a 36-hole total of 13-over 153. Bross shot 80-73 to jump 14 spots after day one, while Walker carded scores of 79-74.

Craig Bland finished tied for 12th at 17-over 157 (80-77) while Matt Dunham finished in a three-way tie for 14th overall with a score of 18-over 158 (77-81).

Brevin Wilson was the top finisher of the C-SC players playing as individuals, placing 10th overall with a 36-hole score of 15-over 155 (76-79). Jacob Thomas carded a two-day total of 29-over 169 (84-85) to finish 24th overall. Leighton Meeker 26th overall with a score of 45-over 185 (93-92).

The Wildcats will now prepare for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for April 29-30 at the Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.
