Men's Golf Finishes in a Tie for Seventh at Heart Championships

The Culver-Stockton men's golf team shot a 4-over 292 in the final round of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships to finish in a tie for seventh place with William Penn University Tuesday afternoon at the Preserve at Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.

The Wildcats played the first two rounds of the 54-hole event Monday and shot 12-over 300 in each round to stand in eighth place after 36 holes. However, C-SC knocked eight strokes off that total Tuesday to jump one spot and tie the Statesmen, who shot 294, 303 and 295 over the 54 holes to finish with a three round total of 28-over 892. MidAmerica Nazarene won the team championship with a total of 18-under 846.

Individually, Craig Bland carded a 54-hole score of 1-over 217 to finish in a tie for 13th place. Bland shot 1-over 73 in the first round and then backed it up with consecutive rounds of even-par 72. Fellow senior Cade Coon tied for 17th with a score of 2-over 218. Coon was tied for sixth at 2-under par after 36 holes, shooting 69 and 73 Monday; however, he struggled to a 4-over 76 Tuesday.

Brevin Wilson had a tough first day, shooting 11-over (78-77) but rebounded to shoot even par 72 Tuesday to end the tournament tied for 33rd with a total of 11-over 227.

Conner Bross started his tournament with an 8-over 80 in the morning round Tuesday. Bross cut two strokes off that score with a six-over 78 in the second round and finished the tournament with an even-par 72 Tuesday to end at 14-over 230 and in a tied for 39th place. Finally, Matt Dunham tied for 44th in the tournament, carding a 54-hole score of 28-over 244 (82-80-82).
