Reinertsen Nets Lone Goal in Wildcats' Loss to Baker
The Culver-Stockton men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference loss to Baker University Saturday night in Baldwin City, Kan.
Baker struck first in the fifth minute of the game to take a 1-0 had. However, the Wildcats got the equalizer in the 24rd minute when the hosts were called for a penalty in the penalty box. Ruben Reinertsen converted the penalty kick to tie the game.
Unfortunately, C-SC was credited with an own goal in the 38th minute of the first half to give Baker a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The score stayed that way until the 68th minute when the Wildcats were guilty of a foul in the penalty area. Baker converted to account for the final score.
C-SC goalkeeper David Gavriliak faced 13 shots on goal and stopped 10 of them between the pipes. The Wildcats were outshot 20-6, including 13-4 on target.
Baker also held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks and the fouls were even at 13 apiece.
The Wildcats, now 5-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the Heart, is slated to host William Penn University this Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Ellison Poulton Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
