Men's Soccer Ends Season with 2-0 Loss to Missouri Valley

Missouri Valley took advantage of a pair of penalty kicks to post a 2-0 victory over the Culver-Stockton men's soccer team Saturday night at Gregg-Mitchell Field in Marshall, Mo.

The first penalty kick occurred in the 36th minute when a battle for a loose ball resulted in a trip inside the penalty box. Missouri Valley's Sam Green converted to give the ninth-ranked Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Then, in the first minute of the second half, Missouri Valley quickly pushed forward and it appeared a Wildcat player and a Viking player got tangled up inside the area. A penalty was called and Green notched his second goal of the game.

The Vikings outshot C-SC 16-4 overall, including 11-2 in the second half. Despite the heavy pressure from the Vikings, Wildcat goalkeeper David Gavriliak stood tall throughout the match, making six saves in the game.

The Wildcats conclude their season with a 5-11-2 overall record and a 1-9-2 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
