Wildcats Fall Behind Early, Fall to No. 22 Missouri Valley 4-0

Missouri Valley College tallied three goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over the Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

A penalty kick converted by the Vikings' Sam Green opened the scoring in the seventh minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Green added his second goal of the game in the 15th minute to increase the lead to 2-0.

The Vikings, ranked 22nd in the latest NAIA national poll, made it 3-0 in the 38th minute when Green assisted on a Tate Richards goal. The Vikings outshot the Wildcats 10-4 in the half and 21-6 overall.

C-SC goalkeeper Jack Gibson faced 13 shots on goal, making nine stops in the game. No Wildcat player had more than one shot in the game and only three of the six shots were on goal. The Vikings also held a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.

C-SC, now 2-2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Heart, is slated to play at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., this Saturday, Sept. 23. Kickoff has been pushed up to 2 p.m. due to possible inclement weather forecast for Saturday evening.
