Men's Soccer Searching for Offensive Spark after Second Straight Shutout

The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team suffered its third consecutive loss with a 2-0 setback to Benedictine College Saturday afternoon at Legacy Field in Atchison, Kan.

The Wildcats have struggled offensively since beginning Heart of America Athletic Conference play Sept. 16. On Saturday, the Ravens outshot the Wildcats 29-6 overall, peppering C-SC netminder David Gavriliak with 12 shots on frame. Gavriliak was outstanding, making 10 saves.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats were limited to two shots in the first half and four shots in the second 45 minutes. Leading scorer Ruben Reinertsen, who leads the Wildcats with eight goals, was held to one shot in the match.

The Wildcats, now 2-3-4 overall and 0-3 in the Heart, return home next Saturday, Oct. 1, to face Baker University in a conference match. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
