Mount Mercy Dominates Possession in Victory over Wildcats

Mount Mercy University limited the Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team to five shots in a 5-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference match at Ellison Poulton Stadium Wednesday night.

The Mustangs dominated possession throughout the game and finished with a 25-5 edge in overall shots. Mount Mercy collected 16 shots in the second half, scoring four of their five goals in the second 45 minutes. 

The Wildcats didn't produce much pressure in the first half, registering one shot in the opening 45 minutes. In the send half, Benjamin Doncel and Josh White each had good scoring opportunities, but put their shots high and wide.

Starting C-SC goalkeeper David Gavriliak made four saves on six shots before leaving the contest with an apparent injury midway through the second half. Jack Gibson replaced him and made two saves on five shots.

The Wildcats, now 2-5-4 overall and 0-5-0 in the Heart, is scheduled to host Park University this Saturday, Oct. 7, at Poulton Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. The Pirates upended Graceland 2-1 Wednesday in Lamoni, Iowa.
