Men's Soccer Fights Back from Halftime Deficit before Succumbing to Grand View 6-3

The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team completed the 2023 season with a 6-3 loss to Grand View University Saturday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

The Vikings scored their first goal in the 26th minute and then added a second goal just 19 seconds before halftime to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

The Wildcats came out in the second half with some energy and cut the lead in half when David Gavriliak netted his third goal of the season in the 57th minute. 

Five minutes later, Martin Quijada notched his first goal of the season with an unassisted tally in the 61st minute to tie the game 2-2.

The score stayed that way until 73rd minute when Grand View broke tie, and the then added two more goals in a three minute, four second period to take a commanding 5-2 lead.

C-SC got one goal back in the 78th minute when the Vikings were called for a foul in the penalty area. Ruben Reinertsen buried the penalty shot for his team best 10th goal the season to get C-SC to within 5-3.

Grand View held a 24-14 advantage over the Wildcats in shots; however, C-SC was able to register 10 corner kicks to the Vikings' five in the game. The Wildcats put six of their 14 shots on goal.
