Men's Soccer Falls Despite Two Goals from Reinertsen

The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team is still searching for its first victory after a 5-2 setback to Missouri Baptist University Wednesday night in St. Louis, Mo.

The Wildcats struck first when Ruben Reinertsen recorded his third goal of the season just five minutes into the contest. Jakson Baber added the assist to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

However, the Spartans answered with three first half goals to take a 3-1 halftime lead. Missouri Baptist outshot the Wildcats 8-4 in the opening 45 minutes. The Spartans scored in the 10th, 25th and 40th minutes of the first half.

C-SC pulled to within 3-2 when Reinertsen notched his second goal of the game and fourth of the season in the 63rd minute. Jorris Guenther collected the assist.

The Wildcats had several opportunities to net the equalizer but were turned away before the Spartans added insurance goals in the 77th and 89th minutes. Reinertsen and Guenther led C-SC with four shots each.

C-SC (0-3-2) is slated to begin its Heart of America Athletic Conference schedule this Saturday, Sept. 14, against Benedictine College at Ellsion Poulton Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
