Wildcats End Winless Streak with Shutout Victory over Waldorf

The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team ended a 24-game winless streak with a 4-0 victory over Waldorf University Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.

The Wildcats, who haven't earned a victory since a 2-0 shutout over Harris-Stowe State University on Sept. 12, 2023, scored two goals in each half to put a mark in the win column. The Wildcats outshot the Warriors 16-6 in the game.

C-SC opened the scoring 37th minute off one of its eight first half corner kicks. The Wildcats had an 11-0 edge in corner kicks for the game.

On the goal, Enzo Lima sent a low line drive toward the near post and senior Ruben Reinertsen dove and re-directed a shot with head past the Waldorf goalkeeper for his eight goal of the season.

The Wildcats made it 2-0 moments later when Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate notched his first goal ofd the game after taking a pass from Kaden Fugate in the 41st minute. 

C-SC, which had eight shots in each half, extended its lead to 3-0 in the 85th minute on the first career goal from Tim Mathys. The Wildcats's final goal came in the 87th minute when Jackson Richmiller one-timed a rebound into the Waldorf net for a 4-0 advantage.

The four goals scored are the most in a game for the Wildcats since a 4-1 victory against Saint Ambrose University on Aug. 31, 2022. 

Goalkeeper Tom Freear earned his first collegiate shutout and victory. Freear faced two shots on goal, stopping both.

C-SC (1-9-4) resumes conference play this Saturday, Oct. 19, at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. game time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
