Men's Soccer Overcomes Two-Goal Deficit; End Season with Tie at Clarke

The Culver-Stockton men's soccer team overcame a two goal deficit to earn a 2-2 tie in its season finale at Clarke University Wednesday night in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats gave up a goal in the 10th minute of the game and trailed 1-0 at the intermission. Clarke made it 2-0 in the 58th minute and it seemed the Wildcats were on their way to another conference setback.

However, a foul in the penalty area  by Clarke in the 66th minute gave the Wildcats a penalty kick and senior Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate buried the shot to cut the lead in half and give the visitors a spark.

Six minutes later, Santiago Martinez, who just entered the game less than a minute before, got the equalizer for the Wildcats with an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute to tie the game.

Clarke outshot the Wildcats 20-11 in the game, including 5-1 over the final 17 minutes after Santiago's game-tying goal. However, C-SC goalkeeper Ricardo Fischbach was equal to the task and was able to make nine saves overall, including seven in the second half.

The Wildcats end the season with a 3-10-5 overall record and 2-8-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
