Men's Track Wins Hilltop Invitational with Five Event Titles

The Culver-Stockton men's indoor track and field team claimed five event titles in winning the Hilltop Invitational at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats registered 128 team points to outdistance fellow Heart of America Athletic Conference Mount Mercy University, which totaled 108 points.

Drew Mallett won two events to lead the Wildcats. Mallett captured the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 11 3/4 inches. He also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.18 seconds. Mallett was very busy during the competition, placing second in the pole vault with a jump of 10 feet.

Nicholas Jarrett won one event and placed second in a second event during the meet. Jarrett won the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.96 seconds. He also placed second to Mallet in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.26 seconds.

Jabez Rivers placed second in the 60-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash. In the 60 hurdles, Rivers finished in a time of 8.68 seconds, while posting a time of 54.16 seconds in the 400.

Also claiming an individual title was Logan Buck who won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.54 seconds. In addition, the 4x400 relay team also won a title in a time of 3:34.56.

Nathan Greene finished second in the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 1 inch. Judah Rivers made the podium in the 400-meter run, finishing in a time of 54.25 seconds.

The Wildcats are back in action next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26-27, in Davenport, Iowa. C-SC is scheduled to compete in the Fighting Bees Invitational at Saint Ambrose University. The event starts at 3:30 Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
