Men's Track Places Eighth at Darren Young Classic

The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team placed eighth in the team standings at the Darren Young Classic hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, Saturday.

The Wildcats placed in eight events to garner 29 points. Central College on the team portion with 138 team points.

The Wildcats' best finish came from Drew Mallett in the tripe jump, placing second with a mark of 41 feet, 3 3/4 inches. Kevin Bryant, in the same event, set a personal best and placed seventh overall with a leap of 34 feet, 9 3/4 inches.

In the sprints, Logan Buck finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.46 seconds. Mallett placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.25 seconds, and Nicholas Jarrett placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09 seconds.

The Wildcats also had two finishers in the top eight of the 400-meter dash with brothers Judah Rivers and Jabez Rivers placing fourth and eighth, respectively. Judah completed the circuit in a time of 53.50 seconds, while Jabez completed the distance in a time of 54.06 seconds.

Finally, Brooklyn Hyman placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 7 3/4 inches. 

The Wildcats are slated to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17, at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
