Men's Track and Field Compete at Washington University Meet

The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team competed in the Washington University Open Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. The Wildcats recorded 60 team points to place fourth among the five men's school's competing.

Jabez Rivers dominated the hurdle competition with a first place and second place finish in his two events. Rivers won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.32 seconds while placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.90 seconds.

Drew Mallett had a successful day at the track with two top five finishes and a seventh place finish in his three individual events. Mallet's best finish was in the javelin where he set a personal best with a throw of 129 feet, 2 inches, good for third place.

Mallett also competed in the 110 hurdles and finished fifth with a time of 16.75 seconds, and in the long jump where he placed seventh with a leap of 21 feet, 3 1/4 inches.

Cody Welch had two top five finishes during the meet, placing fourth in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 7 inches, and fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.24 seconds.

Other athletes who turned in top performances were Kendall Fowler who placed second in the javelin in his season debut, throwing the spear 142 feet, 8 inches. Judah Rivers placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 52.62 seconds, and Kevin Bryant placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 1 1/4 inches. 

In addition, the Wildcat 4x400 relay team finished third overall with a time of 3:35.68.

C-SC returns to action next weekend, competing in the two-day Central Methodist Invitational in Fayette, Mo., March 29-30.
