Culver-Stockton College runner Logan Lucas has been named the WinWon Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for his performance during the Washington University Quadrangular Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.

Lucas, a junior from Monroe City, Mo. (Monroe City HS / Iowa Wesleyan University), broke a 15-year old school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase Saturday, finishing in a time of 9:49.53 to place second among seven runners competing in the event. Lucas broke the previous record held by Jeff Heiter since 2009 by one minute, 44 seconds. The time is currently ranked second in the Heart and 15th in the NAIA.

Earlier this season, Lucas set the school record in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:33.78, and he currently holds the fourth-best time in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:25.20. Those times were set at the season-opening Central Methodist Open March 16.

Lucas and the Wildcats continue their season this Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, in the CMU Invitational at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. The meet is scheduled to begin Friday at 10 a.m. with Saturday's competition beginning at 9 a.m.
