Rivers, Relays Help Wildcats Claim Home Meet

The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team won five events to capture the 2024 Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open Saturday at Richeson Track inside Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.

Jabez Rivers won two events, Logan Lucas won the 3000-meter steeplechase and the Wildcats captured the 4x100 and 100-meter shuttle hurdle relays to earn 182 points and easily outdistance Central Methodist, which finished with 169 points.

Rivers claimed both the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles during the event. Rivers registered a time of 15.04 seconds in the 110 and a time of 55.76 in the 400. He was also a member of the shuttle relay team.

Lucas won the steeplechase and set a facility mark in the process with a time of 9:47.93. Chase Lake and Kenny Tucker placed third and fourth in the event with times of 11:33.35 and 11:56.39, respectively.

Drew Mallett finished off a busy day with top five finishes in six different events. Mallet placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.15 seconds and the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 7 3/4 inches.

Mallett was third in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 23.11 seconds, and the tripe jump with a leap of 41 feet, 1 1/2 inches. Mallet placed fifth in the pole vault and the javelin with a height of 11 feet, 5 3/4 inches and a distance of 137 feet, two inches.

In the 10,000-meter run, Kile Dowd placed third and Gannon McNamee placed fourth in the race. Dowd finished in a time of 36:13.91 while McNamee completed the race in a time of 36:53.88.

Logan Buck joined Rivers in the top five in the 110 hurdles, placing fourth in a time of 15.67 seconds. Tucker placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 8 feet, 0 inches, while Mason Humphrey placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 122 feet, 8 inches.

In the high jump, Cody Well finished fifth with a height of 5 feet, 7 3/4 inches while River finished sixth with a mark of 5 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete at the Grand View Viking Classic this Friday, April 26, in Des Moines, Iowa. The first events are stated to begin at 11 a.m.
