
Men's Track and Field Place 5th in C-SC Invitational; Mallett Sets School Record in 200
The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team recorded 78 points to place fifth overall at its own Culver-Stockton Invitational at Richeson Track Saturday afternoon in Canton.
Columbia College won the team competition with 129 points while Washington University garnered 120 points. Central Methodist and State Fair Community College were third and fourth with 116 and 84 points, respectively.
As usual, Drew Mallett led the Wildcats by scoring in five events, including setting a school record in the 200-meter dash. Mallett finished in a time of 21.49 seconds to eclipse the previous record by .31 seconds.
In other events, Mallett placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, 9 3/4 inches, fifth in the javelin with a throw of 149 feet, 3 inches, and seventh in the long jump with leap of 21 feet, 1 1/2 inches. Mallett also set a personal best in the 110 hurdles with time of 15.32 seconds, finishing sixth overall.
In other events, Jabez Rivers finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.92 seconds. Judah Rivers placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.05 seconds, while Kile Dowd placed second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:59.17.
Kenny Tucker placed in two events, the 3000-meter steeplechase and the pole vault. In the steeplechase, Tucker placed sixth overall with personal best time of 11:24.90. In the pole vault, Tucker placed seventh with a jump of 8 feet, 4 1/4 inches.
Several Wildcats are slated to compete in the Drake Relays April 23-24 in Des Moines, Iowa. The entire team is slated to compete in the Vikings Classic at Grand View University in Des Moines. That event is set to begin at 11 a.m.
