Tucker Hits B Standard in Race Walk at Vikings Classic
The Culver-Stockton men's track and field team competed in the Vikings Classic at Grand View University and the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
The highlight of the day came at the Vikings Classic when Kenny Tucker hit a provisional qualifying standard in the 5000-meter race walk with a time of 26:18.77 in finishing second overall.Tucker is currently ranked 20th in the NAIA in the event.
Jabez Rivers claimed the only event title for the men at the Vikings Classic, capturing the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.97 seconds. Rivers is rated 28th in the NAIA.
The Wildcats had two athletes place fourth in their respective events with Judah Rivers finishing just off the podium in the 400-meter dash with a time of 22.55 seconds, and Chase Lake placing fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:26.44.
Blake Thompson earned a sixth place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:55.10.
In field events, Jayden Ferdinand placed seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 135 feet, 9 inches, and eighth in the javelin with a throw of 114 feet.
Also in the javelin, Michael Misner placed sixth overall, tossing the spear 118 feet, 2 inches, while Frentress Williams III placed seventh with a toss of 115 feet.
The Wildcats also had athletes compete in two relays at the Drake Relays Friday. In the 4x100 relay, C-SC finished 30th overall with a time of 43.72 seconds, and in the sprint medley relay, C-SC finished 18th with a time of 3:42.14.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
