Gnade, Todd Help Wildcats Terminate Bees in Five Sets

The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team outlasted Saint Ambrose University in five sets to pick up its second victory of the season Friday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats, who lost their only other five-set match this season at Kentucky State held off the Bees 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-11 to improve to 2-12 overall this season. The Bees fall to 4-12 overall.

SAU held a 53-52 edge in kills in the match; however, the Wildcats had a .223 attack percentage compared to a .221 for the Bees. C-SC also registered eight service aces in the match with Malachi Gnade recording a team-best three aces.

Offensively, Gnade totaled a match-high 19 kills on 40 attempts. He had just seven errors for a .300 attack percentage. Jacob Todd added 16 kills on 34 attempts and only four errors for a .353 attack percentage.

Matt Reese and Owen Randle combined for 43 of the 47 set assists recorded by the Wildcats. Randle had 22 assists and Reese 21 set assists. 

Defensively, Aidan McGuire garnered 10 digs to lead the back row. Isaiah Robinson had four blocks in the match, finishing with two solo and two block assists.

The Wildcats return to Heart of America Athletic Conference play Saturday, Feb. 25, with a match at Missouri Vally College in Marshall, Mo. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
