Fontbonne Sweeps Wildcats in Non-Conference Match

The Culver-Stockton College men's volleyball team lost to Fontbonne University 25-14, 25-21, 25-19 Tuesday night at the Mabee Center in St. Louis, Mo.

The Wildcats struggled offensively despite recording more kills than the Griffins in the match. C-SC held a 32-26 edge in kills but also totaled 28 hitting errors on 95 attempts for a hitting percentage of .042.

The Griffins had a big impact on the Wildcat hitting woes with 10 team blocks during the contest. More importantly, Fontbonne was able to block efficiently enough forcing C-SC to attempt 23 more attack attempts (95-72).

Aaron Jurenka led the C-SC offensive attack with 10 kills while Malachi Gnade garnered eight terminations. Jacob Todd chipped in with six kills, while Owen Randle had 28 set assists.

Wyatt McCulloch reached double figures with 11 digs to lead the defensive back line. The Wildcats managed just three team blocks in the match.

C-SC (1-4) is slated to play at Saint Ambrose University this Saturday, Feb. 3, in Davenport, Iowa. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
